In
this sector we have had a twin focus on macro enterprise
development and the fostering of community level micro-enterprise
systems in partnership with Indigenous communities.
We have also worked to establish linkages between
Indigenous Peoples of the north and south in mutually
beneficial trade and development partnerships. We
have recently facilitated the creation of trade and
development agreements between Canadian Aboriginal
People and Indigenous Peoples in Mexico, Dominica,
Guyana, Venezuela, Ecuador, Guatemala, Bolivia and
Peru (Reunion
of the Condor and Eagle).
MICRO-ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT SERVICES
We have assisted communities to develop comprehensive,
integrated economic development plans. We have also
given technical support to grassroots organizations
and trained community members to identify business
opportunities, write business plans and negotiate
with banks and large businesses (Rabbit
Lake Economic Development Framework).
