SECTOR: GOVERNANCE AND CIVIL SOCIETY

Our work in this sector focuses on developing social capital (trust, common values, healthy social relations, collective identity and will, etc.) as the "software" of civil society. We also help governments and organizations tailor democratic structures, governance mechanisms and organizational life so that the primary processes of promoting human wellbeing and prosperity are supported and enhanced.

Our services in this sector include:

1.

Strategic assessment, planning, implementation, mentoring, and evaluation related to:

  • developing democratic systems and structures that facilitate public participation in policy and decision-making, and
  • strengthening the effectiveness of projects aimed at the development of civil society and the voluntary sector.
2. Capacity building of leaders, organizations and work teams to engage local populations as partners in the development process - This includes assisting government and civil society organizations to implement processes and frameworks for co-management and constitutional development.
3. Capacity building related to improving the effectiveness of government, NGO and PVO collaboration
4. Basic research related to uncovering the cultural and historical obstacles as well as the cultural resources (beliefs, practices, protocols, institutions, past innovations, etc.), that function as antecedents to the development of "civil society".
